—Kaltex North America Inc., a subsidiary of the Mexican textiles company Grupo Kaltex, has expanded its space at the Empire State Building to 41,879 sq. ft. The company previously leased 5,946 at the property.
Michael Goldman, Chip Conklin and Dan Posey of Studley represented Kaltex in thenegotiations. William Cohen, Ryan Kass and Shanae Ursini of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented the owner. Attorneys involved in the transaction included Brian Beller of Phillips Nizer for the tenant, and David Bleckner and Ian Lester of David Bleckner for the landlord. Malkin Holdings supervises the property.
Kaltex, which has been a tenant at the building for more than three decades, will take occupancy of its new space in early 2013. The company will take up the entire 70th floor as well as a portion of the 71st floor.
Founded in 1925, Grupo Kaltex manufactures and exports synthetic fiber yarn, fabrics, garments and textile home products. The company is the majority stakeholder of Revman, which has such home textile licenses as Tommy Hilfiger, Nicole Miller and Laura Ashley.
