Mall of America
Maureen Hooley Bausch has been promoted to vice president of business development for Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. Bausch has been with Mall of America, the United States' largest enclosed mall, since 1990, most recently as general manager. Among her responsibilities will be overseeing positioning for the mall's massive Phase II expansion, which will double the size of the existing center.
Atlanta-based B2B website FacilityPro.com has hired Lawrence W. Hall as president and COO. The announcement comes after the resignation of former president and CEO Peter Dunning. Most recently, Hall worked for Atlanta-based hsupply. The company has no plans to fill the CEO slot.
Barneys New York
Howard Socol has been appointed president and CEO of New York-based Barneys. Socol has also been elected chairman of the board for the upscale retailer. Prior to Barneys, Socol was president and CEO of Miami-based Burdine's, a branch of Federated Department Stores, for 13 years. Socol succeeds Allen Questrom, who recently left Barneys to become the CEO of Plano, Texas-based J.C. Penney.
Gregory Sullivan has resigned from his post as executive vice president and CFO of Toronto-based developer TrizecHahn. Sullivan has been with the company since 1994. TrizecHahn has begun its search for Sullivan's successor.
New York-based AnnTaylor Stores has announced the resignation of president and COO Patricia DeRosa. She was with the company for four years. AnnTaylor will consider both external and internal applicants for the position.
City of Industry, Calif.-based Strouds, a specialty retailer of bed, bath and home products, has named Thomas Paccioretti president and CEO. Paccioretti replaces John Brincko, who had been acting CEO since the company filed for Chapter 11 protection in September. Paccioretti's former job was with a management consulting firm headed by Brincko that had been heavily involved in Strouds' restructuring. The firm, Brincko Associates, will continue to act as a financial consultant to Strouds.
The Dress Barn
Kathy Bufano has been named president and chief merchandising officer of Suffern, N.Y.-based The Dress Barn. A former executive vice president with Macy's, Bufano has also worked for Lord & Taylor.
Toronto-based Sears Canada has appointed Mark Cohen chairman and CEO. Cohen had served as president of softlines and chief marketing officer for Sears, Roebuck and Co. since September 1999. In addition to 116 Sears stores in Canada and Canada's only general merchandise catalog, Cohen will be responsible for 19 eatons stores.
Steve Odland has been named chairman of the board and CEO of Memphis, Tenn.-based auto parts retailer AutoZone. Prior to this move, Odland had been COO of grocery retailer Ahold USA. Odland is only the third CEO in the company's history, and was picked by a committee that included company founder J.R. Hyde III.
CB Richard Ellis
Jeff Vitek has been promoted to the position of senior vice president of Los Angeles-based CB Richard Ellis. Last year, Vitek won the company's National Retail Integrated Services Award. Vitek has been with CB Richard Ellis since 1990, working out of the company's San Diego office
New York-based UrbanAmerica L.P. has named David Monzella vice president of acquisitions. Monzella comes to UrbanAmerica from Vornado Realty Trust, and has also served as vice president for PNC Bank.
First Commercial Realty
Peter Gikas has been named vice president of real estate management for Southfield, Mich.-based First Commercial Realty & Development. Gikas had been director of property management and general counsel for First Commercial since joining the firm in 1995. The move comes just as the company's commercial real estate portfolio passed the 1 million sq. ft. mark.
Steven F. Heitz has joined St. Louis-based Pace Properties as vice president of development. His responsibilities will include overseeing all aspects of the development process. Previously, Heitz was director of real estate and assistant general counsel with Drury Inns.
Edens & Avant
Columbia, S.C.-based Edens & Avant has named Tina Marshall their new vice president of retail client services. Prior to joining Edens & Avant in 1998, she was vice president of shopping center operations for Aronov Realty Management and president of Renew Corp., a third-party management subsidiary of Aronov.
May Department Stores
Robert D. Storey has retired from the board of directors of St. Louis-based May Department Stores, effective February 1st. Storey has served on May's board since 1989. He is a partner in the law firm of Thompson, Hine & Flory LLP, based in Cleveland.
Forest City Enterprises
Cleveland-based Forest City Enterprises has promoted Nancy McCann to vice president of marketing. Her duties in this newly created position will include managing the company's marketing, advertising, and public relations programs. McCann was formerly director of shopping center marketing for Forest City Commercial Management, where she was a senior vice president.
Steve Epple, AIA, has been promoted to COO of Seattle-based design firm Callison . Epple, who has also been selected to serve on the company's board, has been a principal in the company since he joined Callison in 1996. Most recently, he was director of operations for the firm's retail centers studio and served on Callison's executive committee.
