NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Atlanta-based Hardin Capital LLC is planning a 305-room, full-service Marriott Hotel to be built in 2525 West End, a mixed-use property in Nashville that Houston-based Hines is developing.of the hotel will begin this summer, and completion is scheduled for fall 2001. The Vanderbilt University campus, which is located adjacent to 2525 West End, owns the land on which the development is being built.
Hardin Construction Co. will be the general contractor for the hotel, which will feature 12,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, a restaurant, lounge and indoor pool. Bethesda, Md.-based Marriott International Inc. will manage the hotel, and Atlanta-based Smallwood, Rey-nolds, Stewart, Stewart & Associates Inc. is the project's designer.
In addition to the hotel, 2525 West End will feature a 14-story, 300,000 sq. ft. Class-A office building and 65,000 sq. ft. of retail space, both of which are scheduled to open in September. Birmingham, Ala.-based Brasfield & Gorrie LLC is the general contractor for the office and retail component of the complex, and Hines will be the owner and property manager.-based Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed the office and retail portions. Numerous shops, restaurants and hotels are located within walking distance of 2525 West End. The complex will also be near Nashville's Centennial Park and interstates 40 and 440.
Hines Vice President Tom Danilek says Hines and Vanderbilt pitched the hotel idea to Hardin Capital. "This will be the highest quality hotel in Nashville's West End," he says. "[2525 West End] will serve as the gateway to the portion of the campus containing the athletic facilities. The school felt it was very important to have a high-quality development there."
"Retail, office and hotels are three markets that have all been very strong," adds Danilek. "And, Nashville's West End is a very high performing market. We feel this is a great fit."
