CBRE Inc. appointed Steven A. Swerdlow as Chief Operating Officer of the Americas, a new position. In his new role, Swerdlow will provide executive oversight of key areas, including research and marketing, will run the firm’s Latin America operations and will assume responsibility for Canada and the valuation and advisory services operations.
Previously, Swerdlow served as president of CBRE’s Western Division. While in that position, he oversaw the operations of 46 offices in nine states and the Latin America operations. He joined CBRE in 1990, as New York City market leader.
In a separate announcement, CBRE appointed Kim Lord as senior managing director for the firm’s Hawaii region. In his new position, Lord will oversee brokerage, investment sales, asset services, debt and equity finance, project management and valuation. Previously, he worked as managing director of institutional sales. CBRE also promoted Michael F. Smith to president of its Western division. Previously, Smith led the firm’s San Francisco Bay area operations. He has been with CBRE since 1999.
Greenberg Gibbons Names Fitzpatrick as President and COO
Greenberg Gibbons appointed Tom Fitzpatrick as president and chief operating officer. In his new position, Fitzpatrick will be responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations, leasing and development activities.
Fitzpatrick has served as executive vice president with Greenberg Gibbons since 2006. He has overseen leasing for the company’s portfolio and directed development and merchandising programs.
“For more than five years, Tom has been instrumental in turning several of our most significant revitalization projects and mixed-use developments into great successes,” said Greenberg Gibbons Chairman and CEO Brian Gibbons in a statement. “His strong leadership will be essential to guiding our continued growth.”
Callison Acquires High-EndFirm
Callison acquired Barteluce Architects & Associates, a New York City-based firm. Barteluce Architects & Associates was founded in 1989. Its clients include high-end retailers, including Burberry, Chanel, Cartier, Polo Ralph Lauren and Tiffany & Co.
The acquisition will grow Callison’s New York team to more than 75 architects.
GBT to Build Mixed-Use Center in Alabama
GBT Realty Corp. and Triad Properties broke ground on Madison Corners, a mixed-use project in Madison, Ala. The center will contain 100,000 sq. ft. of class-A medical office space and approximately 22,000 sq. ft. of retail. Firehouse Subs, LawLer’s Barbecue and Specialized Medical Devices have already signed leases for the retail portion of the development. Avenue Bank provided financing for the project. MJM Architects and Gresham, Smith & Partners worked on the design of the center.
TJ Maxx to Open at Ridge Hill Center in Westchester County
TJX Cos. signed a lease with Forest City for a 32,000-sq.-ft. store at Ridge Hill in Yonkers, N.Y. William B. Hesse, president of Aries Deitch & Endelson Inc., represented the tenant in the transaction. Andy Silberfein and Michael Goldban represented the landlord.
Marshalls to Open Store at Lompoc Shopping Center in California
Marshalls signed a lease with Brixmor Property Group for a 24,050-sq.-ft. store at Lompoc Shopping Center in Lompoc, Calif. Anthony Mansour, of The Clover Co., represented Marshalls in the transaction.

Fallas Discount Stores signed a lease with Jones 1960 Crossroads LLC for a 22,000-sq.-ft. store at Steeplechase Shopping Center in Houston. Jason Du, of Henry S. Miller Brokerage, represented the landlord in the transaction. Shawn Ackerman, also of Henry S. Miller, represented the tenant.

Buchalter Nemer hired Douglas E. Wance as a partner in its real estate practice group. Wance specializes in land use and water resources, environmental regulatory compliance and public agency law.
SRS Real Estate Partners hired Scott Landgraf as senior vice president in its Newport Beach, Calif. office. Previously, Landgraf served as senior vice president with Colliers International. He specializes in retail tenant representation and investment sales.
Grubb & Ellis hired John Rapp as vice president of its retail group and a member of its petroleum services group. Rapp has 25 years of experience. Previously, he managed retail sales for the United Oil Co.
Grosvenor Americas appointed Sommer Johnson as investment manager in its San Francisco office. In his new position, Johnson will be responsible for real estate acquisitions in the San Francisco Bay area and Los Angeles/Orange County. Previously, he worked as a manager with AIG Global Real Estate Investment Corp.
Voit Real Estate Services hired Susan Doris as an asset manager in its Sacramento, Calif. office. In her new position, Doris will be responsible for business development and the implementation of strategies to maximize value and minimize risk for the firm’s clients. She has more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate. Prior to joining Voit, she worked as managing director of national leasing with Equity Office Properties.
Bierbrier Development Inc. promoted Ronald Dattoli to senior property manager. In his new position, Dattoli will oversee the management of properties in the company’s Massachusetts portfolio. He joined Bierbrier Development in 1984.
The Town Center at Boca Raton in Palm Beach County, Fla. appointed Brian Nelson as general manager. Nelson has more than 21 years of experience in retail sales, marketing and management. Previously, he served as area manager for two malls and four community centers operated by Simon Property Group.
Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services hired Matthew LoPiccolo. In his new position, LoPiccolo will specialize in the sale of retail properties throughout San Diego County. Previously, he worked as an investment specialist with Capital Real Estate.
