Regency Centers will begin construction on East Washington Place, a $61 million, 378,000-sq.-ft. community shopping center in Petaluma, Calif. A 138,324-sq.-ft. Target will anchor the property. Regency plans to open the center in the summer of 2013.

The company estimates that the project will create approximately 380 construction jobs and 720 permanent jobs.

Regency, in partnership with Excel Commercial Real Estate LLC, also began construction on Phase I of Southpark at Cinco Ranch, a 260,000-sq.-ft. neighborhood shopping center in Fort Bend County, Texas. Kroger will anchor the property.

Phase I of the project will contain a 101,497-sq.-ft. Kroger and fuel center, a 71,680-sq.-ft. Houston-based sporting goods retailer, 29,920 sq. ft. of small shop space and seven outparcels.

Phase II will contain an additional 57,000 sq. ft. of space.

Regency plans to open the center in the fourth quarter of 2012. The property is 72 percent pre-leased.

Jones Lang LaSalle’s Maloney Picked as Receiver for Eastpoint Mall

Jones Lang LaSalle has been appointed as receiver for Eastpoint Mall in Baltimore County. The company will be responsible for directing the asset and handling leasing and management at the center.

Eastpoint Mall was completed in 1956. Burlington Coat Factory, DSW, Sears, Shoppers World and JC Penney serve as anchors for the center. Other tenants include Applebees, Bath & Body Works, The Children’s Store and Rue21, among others.

Greg Maloney will handle this assignment on behalf of Jones Lang LaSalle.

Duke Realty Gives Comras Exclusive Leasing Agency for Florida Lifestyle Center

Duke Realty appointed Comras Co. as the exclusive leasing agent for The Shops of Pembroke Gardens, a 400,000-sq.-ft. open-air lifestyle center in Pembroke Pines, Fla. The center is currently 93 percent leased. Tenants include the Cheesecake Factory, Sephora, Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, BCBG, Hollister and Brio.

ICSC Appoints Morrissey as Managing Director of Europe Division

ICSC hired Michael Morrissey as managing director of ICSC Europe effective May 14. In his new position, Morrissey will be responsible for managing all of ICSC’s conferences and initiatives in Europe, running the organization’s London office and growing its membership in the region.

Prior to joining ICSC, Morrissey served as general manager with the International Federation of Air Line Pilot’s Associations. He has also held positions as the head of international operations for the Institution of Engineering and Technology and as head of the rules and regulations department with the International Tennis Federation.

“Michael’s skill set and previous experiences make him the perfect choice to direct the associations’ strategic efforts throughout Europe as we look to continue the growth of the ICSC brand there,” said ICSC President and CEO Michael P. Stuart Steinberg Becomes COO of The Robin Group

The Robin Group promoted Stuart Steinberg to chief operating officer. Steinberg has more than 30 years of experience in sales and management. Prior to joining The Robin Group, he worked as a manager and vice president of sales with Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services.

Burlington Coat Factory to Open at Woodbridge Crossing Shopping Center in New Jersey

Burlington Coat Factory signed a lease for a 78,303-sq.-ft. store at Woodbridge Crossing Shopping Center in Woodbridge, N.J. The retailer will go into the former The Great Indoors space. It plans to open at its new location later this year. SRS Real Estate Partners negotiated this transaction.

Brick City Development Corp. Brings Food Depot to Newark

Food Depot opened a 31,000-sq.-ft. store at 75 First Street in Newark, N.J. Brick City Development Corp. (BCDC), Newark’s economic development organization, provided a $2 million loan for the development, with Crown Bank providing the balance of the debt financing for the $8 million project. When completed, Food Depot will create more than 100 jobs.

Container Store, Drybar Coming to Federal’s Plaza El Segundo

The Container Store and Drybar signed leases with Federal Realty Investment Trust for stores at Plaza El Segundo in El Segundo, Calif. The Container Store will open a 22,000-sq.-ft. store at the center in June. Drybar will open a 1,484-sq.-ft. location at the property in March.

Jeff Kreshek, vice president of West Coast leasing for Federal Realty, represented the landlord in the transactions.

CBRE promoted Paul J. Amrich to vice chairman. Amrich focuses on landlord and tenant representation and strategic advisement of select capital sources in New York City. He joined CBRE in 2006. Prior to that, he worked at Cushman & Wakefield. In the course of his career, Amrich completed more than eight million sq. ft. of leasing transactions.

Mid-America Real Estate Group appointed Cynthia J. Kratchman as principal in its Detroit division. In her new position she will be responsible for tenant representation, surplus disposition and high profile listings. Kratchman has more than 20 years of experience in retail brokerage. Previously, she worked as a broker with Landmark Commercial Real Estate Services.

Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services appointed Jason S. Vitorino as senior director of its national retail group in Dallas. Vitorino joined the firm’s sales intern program in September of 2003. He became a sales agent in April of 2004. In the course of his career, he closed more than $660 million in transactions.

SRS Real Estate Partners hired Glori Rodriguez as senior marketing coordinator in its South Florida office. In her new position, Rodriguez will be responsible for executing national and local marketing strategies. Previously, she worked as a business development coordinator with Bureau Veritas N.A.
