Four developers have announced plans to build a 120-acre mixed-use project on an active shipyard in Hingham, Mass. The Hingham Shipyard project will include apartments, condominiums, restaurants, shops, waterfront parks, and office space.
“We are very excited to be a part of this master plan community,” says Michael Roberts, vice president of development for AvalonBay Communities. “We are confident that it will become a center piece for Hingham and the entire south shore area.”
AvalonBay Communities, a listed REIT, is building 235 luxury apartment homes at the site. Roseland Property Company will complete 150 townhouses and Samuels & Associates will develop 240,000 sq. ft. of retail and office space. The marina will continue to be operated by Sea Chain. The developers plan to attract more than a dozen local and national retailers and restaurants to the project.
