The Howard Hughes Corp. appointed RKF as exclusive consultant and leasing agent for South Street Seaport, a 365,000-sq.-ft. retail center in New York City.
New York City Council recently approved a redevelopment of South Street Seaport that will include increased open space on the pier, a new exterior facade and new rooftop space that will be used for concerts and other entertainment events. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall with completion planned for 2015.
RKF’s Robert K. Futterman, Karen Bellantoni and Tess Jacoby will handle this assignment, along with leasing executives from The Howard Hughes Corp. including Keith Laird and Michelle Waak.

FRCH Design Opens New York Office
FRCH Design Worldwide, anand design firm servicing the retail, restaurant and hospitality markets, will open a New York City office. Randy Ng, vice president and managing principal with the firm, and Norman Roberts, vice president and managing creative director, will lead the New York City team.
Ng has more than 20 years of experience in the industry. His clients have included Macy’s Department Stores, Neiman Marcus, Esprit and Calvin Klein. Roberts has done work for Estee Lauder, Prescriptives and Ann Taylor.
“This new office allows us to connect with our clients in New York and the region on a personal level, more frequently, as well as showcase the work we do to a greater audience,” said Jim Tippmann, CEO of FRCH Design Worldwide, in a statement.
Party City, Pep Boys Come to Brixmor Centers
Brixmor Property Group signed new leases at properties in New York and Pennsylvania.
Party City signed a lease for a 14,942-sq.-ft. store and Ithaca Agway—True Value signed a lease for a 26,202-sq.-ft. store at Cayuga Mall in Ithaca, N.Y. Steve Scaramuzzino, of the Scara Group, represented Party City in its transaction. Glenn Weisiger represented Brixmor in-house.
Pep Boys signed a 16,000-sq.-ft. lease at Collegeville Shopping Center in Collegeville, Pa. David Gerstenhaber represented Brixmor in-house.
IKEA completed a redesign project at its store in Emeryville, Calif. The project involved the redesign of the accessories marketplace. The store remained open throughout the process.
CBRE promoted Michael Gold to senior associate of retail services. In his new position, Gold will focus on the urban retail marketplace. His list of clients includes Simon Property Group, Kimco Realty Corp., Inland Commercial Property Management and Cole Real Estate Investments, among others.
