Tommy Hilfiger hired Callison to showcase the retailer’s global fashion portfolio and emphasize the classic American cool brand while blending effortlessly with Fifth Avenue’s design standard of excellence.
Located in the historic Fortunoff location, Callison was tasked with preserving the historical context of the site. The classic detailing of the store interior blends architectural elements with traditional furnishings and finishes to create a striking juxtaposition between modern and classic.
The store features oil-rubbed bronze metal fixtures as well as a restoration of the building’s façade to its original Indiana limestone. Elegant ivory drapes are offset against walnut panels. Rough hewn material, such as unfinished wood tables, are contrasted with trademark 1960s Venini chandeliers. Floors of black Brazilian cherry wood contrast with hot pink, cream and royal blue hues. Spanning four floors and a mezzanine, the interior features a dramatic, modern centralized staircase that doubles as a viewing platform for a revolving art installation and view of Fifth Avenue designed to create a residential atmosphere.
The visual merchandising is inspired by traditional American iconography and presented in a new, fresh way. A large mixed media art installation on the wall leading up to the staircase displays a 3-D abstract American flag, a blue Cadillac fender and blue surfboard, red Marshall amp, white vintage 60s television alongside Indian headdresses.Project Name: Tommy Hilfiger 5 th Avenue Flagship
