“Sustainability is a risk-management tool, and a sustainability program practiced well, reduces risk in our real estate portfolios. It helps us think about the long-term scarcity of commodities that we need to build and operate our buildings, it helps us understand the needs and desires of future generations that will occupy our buildings, and it aids us in understanding regulation that is coming or that is already here. This all creates an environment that helps us preserve and enhance the value of the real estate industry.”—Gary M. Holtzer
