Council OKs Renovation of Santa Barbara Plaza
The Los Angeles City Council has approved an agreement with Capital Vision Equities and Keyshawn Johnson for the $123.2 million mixed-use redevelopment of the former Santa Barbara Plaza in South Los Angeles. The agreement also includes $43.5 million in public investment.
The large-scale mixed-use project is one of the first to be undertaken in the area in two decades, the redevelopment will rename the shopping center Marlton Square. It will comprise 140,000 sq. ft. of retail, a 180-unit senior housing project and140 single-family homes.
"Investing in my own community is profoundly important to me," said NFL star Keyshawn Johnson of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who previously teamed with Capital Vision Equities to develop the nearby Chesterfield Square retail center.
