Sun Life Buys Nevada Retail Property
The U.S. division of Sun Life Financial Inc. (NYSE: SLF, TSX: SLF) has purchased a 34,300 sq. ft. shopping center in Henderson, Nev. for more than $14.3 million. The acquisition of Sunset Plaza at 1000-1124 Sunset Road brings the value of the Toronto-based company’s U.S. real estate portfolio to $1.2 billion in 115 buildings.
Chuck Andes, a managing director at Sun Life, negotiated the purchase from Mandan Investments LLC. The property was built in 1993 and is 96% occupied.
Sun Life Financial provides a range of wealth accumulation and protection products and services to individuals and corporate customers. Chartered in 1865, Sun Life Financial and its partners have operations in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, India, China and Bermuda. As of Sept. 30, 2007, the Sun Life Financial group of companies had $430.6 billion in assets under management.
