Colliers International Launches National Seniors Housing Practice Group

Competition in the seniors housing industry among giant real estate service providers is heating up as investor interest in the sector grows. Colliers International late last month announced the formation of a seniors housing practice group to be led by veteran broker Mark Silver, who most recently served with Jones Lang LaSalle as co-head of its national seniors housing group.

In his new role as national director with Colliers International, Silver will oversee the day-to-day management and business development for the seniors housing practice group at Colliers and build its profile across the country. The specialty group will provide integrated brokerage, capital markets and strategic planning services to owners and investors across all sectors of senior housing and health care. Silver will be based in the company’s New York office

“I am extremely excited to join Colliers International,” Silver said in a news release. “Colliers has one of the best real estate brands in the world and is expanding significantly at a time when other firms are retrenching. With an aging population, the seniors housing sector is a critical and growing niche.”

During his 18-year real estate career, Silver has represented a wide variety of health care and seniors housing clients. His most recent assignments include the sale of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, as well as medical office buildings in New York and Texas.

“Having Mark Silver operate out of the New York office is another key investment to expanding our service lines and local market share,” said Mark Jaccom, CEO of the tri-state region for Colliers. ”The addition of Mark and our recently launched tri-state life science practice group furthers our momentum in New York, and it gives Colliers International a major presence nationally in the seniors housing space."

Seattle-based Colliers International, which is a subsidiary of Toronto-based FirstService Corp., (Nasdaq: FSRV) has 15,000 professionals operating out of more than 480 offices in 61 countries.
