Draft of New Green Building Code is Available

A draft version of the new International Green Construction Code has been released by the International Code Council. The code instructs builders to comply with earlier standards, including the National Green Building Standard (NGBS).

The code sets an updated standard for multifamily buildings, including those of three stories or less, according to the Washington, D.C.-based National Multi-Housing Council. Structures with four or more stories can comply with the new code or the NGBS, according to the Multi-Housing Council.

The new code is still being finalized, and companies should check for revisions as it works its way through the vetting process, according to the Multi-Housing Council.

The International Code Council develops codes and standards used to construct commercial and residential buildings. The standards are intended to improve safety and prevent fires, and have been adopted by jurisdictions in all 50 states.

Total CMBS Issuance Volume

There has been $30.3 billion in new CMBS issuance to date in 2013, according to Commercial Mortgage Alert. That puts the industry on pace to smash last year’s volume of $48.4 billion and will make 2013 the busiest year for CMBS issuance since 2007. Where do you think total CMBS issuance volume will end up in 2013?
