The Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas has chosen Prolog software to standardize construction management for its $1.27 billion building program, according to Meridian Systems, based in Folsom, Calif., which creates the technology.
Parkland, a 685-bed healthcare facility, is working with Dallas-based Project 3 Technologies, a Meridian Systems reseller, on the Parkland project, which is one of the largest building programs in the country.
Parkland will use Prolog to control construction costs and documents. The hospital system had been using Prolog for more than 10 years in different capacities before deciding to standardize its use across the organization. Dozens of architectural, engineering and construction firms involved with the hospital expansion also will use Prolog to manage costs and paperwork. The software automates many daily tasks and processes, from project design to building completion.
"With the high levels of transparency required on publicly funded projects, standardizing on Prolog and owning the project data was a very forward thinking decision by the Parkland facilities team," said Trent Hogan, president of Project 3 Technologies.
With the software, he said, hospital administrators will be able to report to the hospital board and to the community to account for every public dollar spent.
