Beit: Newark’s Innovative Teachers Village Project Demonstrates New Jersey’s Resurgence

Ron Beit, lead developer for New York-based RBH Management Group, talks about how Teacher’s Village, a mixed-use development including residential, retail and charter schools that’s set for delivery in 2012-2014, will stimulate downtown Newark. The project, which has received significant public funding as well as funding from commercial and investment banks and insurance companies, has been designed to recruit and retain the best teachers to Newark, thus improving the city’s education system and populating a downtown area that was 92 percent surface parking lot.
