According to London's Independent the best retail city in the world is ... Fukuoka, Japan.
The paper made this determination in coming up with its top 20 cities in the world in terms of quality of life. (Copenhagen topped the list.) The report doesn't outline what about Fukuoka makes it the retail king of the world. According to Wikipedia, the city is home to about 1.5 million residents. It is known, in part, because of the ACROS (Asian CrossRoads Over the Sea) project, "a multipurpose convention and cultural center." (Click on the picture to get a better view.)
If anyone has any insight on the city's retail scene, please enlighten us.
