In an effort to entice shoppers to visit its website this holiday season, J.C. Penney will organize a new take on a lottery, USA Today reports. The department store's in-store employees will give customers buttons with promotional codes on the back. The customers will then visit the J.C. Penney website to check if they won a prize, such as a trip to Disneyland or a gift card.
J.C. Penney has been struggling under the direction of new CEO Ron Johnson. Analysts now worry that the department store will have a dismal holiday sales season, and likely a difficult 2013 as well, according to the New York Post. Does anyone think the new holiday strategy will help the retailer turn things around?
