The upscale grocer will open its smallest U.S. store this week, in a former Johnnie's Foodmaster space in Brookline, according to Supermarket News. Whole Foods acquired the space along with five other Johnnie's Foodmaster locations in 2012.
Whole Foods did not comment for the story, but it would be interesting to find out if the chain decided to open smaller stores just as a matter of convenience to enter a desirable market, or if it's trying to diversify its store fleet to include a variety of sizes.
