New England Development has partnered with Cabot, Cabot & Forbes and Commonfund Realty Inc. to develop a 4.5 million-square-foot mixed-use complex, including 1.2 million square feet of open-air retail, on a dilapidated industrial park located in Westwood, Mass.
The planned development, called Westwood Station, is adjacent to a Boston Bay Transportation Authority stop. Like many new projects it's being built near a transit line to cut down on traffic.
Westwood Station will include two hotels, 1,000 residences and 2 million square feet of office space.
Boston's Elkus/Manfredi Architects is creating a master plan for the 130 acres, which will result in the demolition of a dozen old buildings with more than 1 million square feet of space. Construction is expected to start later this year.
