The Oakland Athletics have proposed yet another new ballpark scheme and this time they are hoping that the incorporation of mixed-use components, including retail, will bolster their case. The new $400 million plan would include a 35,000-seat park along with a new “ballpark village” (modeled after what teams like the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals have done around their stadiums.) The 140-acre site, which would replace the current field (right), would include condominiums, restaurants and retail to complement the ballpark.
