An auto repair shop in Minneapolis' Tangletown neighborhood is being transformed into a Liberty Frozen Custard restaurant this summer. KKE Architects is preserving the 1950s-era porcelain-paneled building's garage doors as functional architectural elements that open up the indoor dining room to an outdoor seating area. The new restaurant, which serves hot dogs, pizzas and ice cream, will add 500 square feet to the auto shop's original 1,350-square-foot space.
