Fairfield, Calif. - Chicago-based Sears opened a new department store in February at Solano Mall in Fairfield, replacing an existing, smaller unit. The 150,000 sq. ft., full-line store focuses on apparel and accessories as well as an array of hardware, appliances and electronics. In addition, the store's Center for the Home Environment features water- and air-purification products as well as home security. A new, freestanding Sears Auto Center will replace an existing one this spring. Other anchors at the mall, which is owned by San Diego-based TrizecHahn Centers, include Mervyn's, Macy's and JCPenney.
Cleveland - New anchors open their doors at three shopping centers owned and managed by Cleveland-based Developers Diversified Realty Corp. At Shoppers World in Framingham, Mass., a 10,775 sq. ft. Gateway 2000 Country Store, a retail outlet of North Sioux City, S.D.-based Gateway 2000 Inc., joined existing anchors Barnes & Noble, General Cinema, Toys "R" Us, TJMaxx, OfficeMax, Linens 'N Things, Designer Shoe Warehouse and A.C. Moore.
At Southland Crossings Shopping Center in Boardman, Ohio, a 77,952 sq. ft. Giant Eagle supermarket joined Lowe's, Wal-Mart, Dick's Sports, PetsMart and Staples at the 512,000 sq. ft. power center. In addition, Cleveland-based OfficeMax joined the anchor lineup at Cascade Crossings in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. The 23,000 sq. ft. store joins Wal-Mart, Glen's Country Market and JCPenney.
