Dallas - Construction recently began on Galleria North, a multi-use complex being built directly north of the Galleria complex in Dallas. The project will contain approximately 700,000 sq. ft. of office space in two buildings, 125,000 sq. ft. of upscale retail space and a four-star hotel. The retail component, being designed by Houston-based Hermes Reed Architects and expected to be completed in July 1999, will feature Crate & Barrel, The Container Store, Restoration Hardware, Starbucks, Z Gallerie, Elizabeth Arden and Mondo's. Houston-based Hines is developing the project.
Wellington, Fla. - Construction will begin in early 1999 on The Mall at Wellington Green in Wellington (Palm Beach County). The 1.3 million sq. ft. project, which is the centerpiece of a 466-acre masterplanned, mixed-use development, will be anchored by Lord & Taylor, Burdines, Dillard's and JCPenney. The mall, which can accommodate one additional department store, is scheduled for a fall 2001 opening. It is a development of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based Taubman Centers Inc.
North Scottsdale, Ariz. - Phoenix-based Westcor Shopping Centers and Scottsdale-based Southwest Development are joining forces to develop The Village at Chauncey Ranch in North Scottsdale. The 160-acre project, which comprises upscale specialty shops, restaurants, hotels, offices and entertainment venues, will unfold in stages over the next 10 to 15 years. The first phase, scheduled to be completed in fall 2000, will feature a 200,000 sq. ft. specialty retail center with 50 upscale shops and restaurants. No anchors have been announced.
Edison, N.J. - Clifton, N.J.-based ARC Properties Inc. recently broke ground on Edison Crossroads, a 315,000 sq. ft. power center in Edison. Tenants include anchors Edwards SuperStore and Home Depot as well as Worldwide Carpet, Applebee's and McDonald's. The project is expected to be completed in fall 1999.
Village of North Palm Beach, Fla. - Construction is under way on North Palm Marketplace, a 112,000 sq. ft. shopping center in the Village of North Palm Beach. When completed in summer 1999, it will feature anchor tenant Winn-Dixie Marketplace. Mobil Oil also is purchasing an outparcel on the site. North Palm Marketplace is a development of Stiles Retail Group, a division of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Stiles Corp.
