California Parking Facility Receives AIA Design Award An urban parking facility in Glendale, Calif., recently received an Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The facility, developed by the City of Glendale, was designed by Deenihan Design Group Architects, also of Glendale. The firm developed the building's exterior design while consulting for the facility's project architect, Walker Parking Consultants, Newport Beach, Calif. The nine-level facility - six levels above ground and three below ground -has the capacity to park 1,150 cars.
NRCA Releases New 1999 Roofing Materials Guides The 1999 editions of "Low-Slope Roofing Materials Guide" and "Steep-Slope Roofing Materials Guide" have been released by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA). The low-slope guide describes hundreds of roof membranes and insulation boards as well as roof cements, coatings and fastener products. The steep-slope guide offers product information about asphalt shingles and their warranties, underlayment sheets, clay and concrete tiles, wood shakes and shingles, slate, and fiber-cement, metal and synthetic materials.
