As the largest publicly held owner and manager of office properties in the United States, it was no surprise that Chicago-based Equity Office Properties Trust was at the top of this year's survey of Top Office Owners. This month, the company graces several pages of our magazine, including as the winner in the Top REIT category and Top Office Firm category at this year's Leadership Awards. In addition to being the proud owner of a 76.6 million sq. ft. portfolio, the company's roster of accomplishments in 1999 includes issuing $1 billion in senior unsecured notes and entering into a $1.1 billion joint venture agreement with Atlanta-based Lend Lease Real Estate Investments Inc., which resulted in the partial sale of several properties totaling 5.6 million sq. ft.
