Newport Beach, Calif.-based PLC Entertainment has selected Irvine, Calif.-based Snyder Langston, a real estate development and construction services firm, to provide preconstruction services, construction/ program management and general contracting for its new PLC/Edwards Entertainment Center in Houston. The 320,000 sq. ft. center will feature an Edwards Theatres complex complete with an IMAX theater as well as 200,000 sq. ft. of specialty retail. The project, the first of several planned across the country by PLC and Edwards Theatres, is scheduled to open in May.
Plainfield, Ind.-based Galyan's Trading Co. has awarded The Winter Construction Co., Atlanta, the contract to construct the shell of its new store at Lenox Courtyard in Atlanta. The $7.7 million project presents a challenge, as the site is bordered by major roads on two sides and by a parking deck and other tenant space on the other two sides. As a result, Winter will place a crane in the center of the site and build the shell around it. The 181,000 sq. ft. building will total four floors, which includes one level of below-grade parking.
