Baltimore - Redevelopment has commenced on the 80,000 sq. ft. Security Square Shopping Center, announced Lutherville, Md.-based Mid-Alantic Realty Trust (MART). MART purchased the site, formerly housing a Hechinger's store, for $6.2 million. The center is currently 70% leased and anchored by a 57,000 sq. ft. SuperFresh supermarket. An additional leasable area of 15,000 sq. ft. is available for smaller retailers, plus two additional pad sites. Kann & Associates Inc. heads the architectural redesign while Glen Arm Construction Company Inc. is the general contractor. The center is expected to open in February 2001 with a total project cost of $11 million.
