The Truelson family is not one for passing torches. Sure, three generations have operated restaurants on the same Minneapolis-area site for 40 years. But with each change of ownership, the structure is demolished and rebuilt to more upscale criteria. Eighteen years ago, for example, Porky's drive-in burger joint was replaced by Nora's, a homey supper club. Now, Nora's son Tryg is serving American classics in a modern lodge designed by Shea Inc. Among the design highlights: A massive wood-burning fireplace, patio with fire pit, wood-slat partitions (“nests”) that enclose circular booths and a central dining area with a domed copper ceiling that recalls the barrel-shaped canopy above the restaurant entrance.
