Cape Cod: It's not just for vacationers anymore Whitehall Estate, an 80-unit assisted-living community in Hyannis, Mass., has opened. Skokie, Ill.-based Parkside Senior Services LLC owns and operates the facility.
The project is designed with studio, one- and two-bedroom floor plans. Each unit comes with individually-controlled heating and air conditioning, and an emergency response system.
Sunrise and Brookdale enjoy solid third quarters Both Fairfax, Va.-based Sunrise Assisted Living Inc. and Chicago-based Brookdale Living Communities Inc. performed strongly in the third quarter. Sunrise has reported third-quarter 1999 revenue of $68.1 million, a 48% increase from the $46.2 million collected in third-quarter 1998. The company also has reported $18.3 million in third-quarter earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), an 11% increase from the $16.5 million in EBITDA during the same period last year.
The company's revenue for the first nine months of 1999 was $181 million, a 49% percent increase from the $121.5 million in revenue during the same period in 1998. EBITDA for the first nine months of 1999 was $55.9 million, a 34% increase from the $41.6 million during the first nine months of1999.
Brookdale has reported third-quarter 1999 revenue of $26.7 million, a 30% increase from the $20.5 million collected in third-quarter 1998. The company's third-quarter net income was $2.9 million, up 61% from the $1.8 million in third-quarter 1998. Earnings per diluted share for the third-quarter 1999 were $0.23, compared to $0.19 in third-quarter 1998. Brookdale reported revenue of $78.3 million for the first nine months of this year, a 40% increase from the $56 million in the same period last year.
Senior Resource developing Phoenix dementia-care facility San Diego-based Senior Resource Group LLC is developing Hawthorn Court at Ahwatukee, a $4.5 million, 44-unit dementia-care community in Phoenix. Construction of the single-story, 37,000 sq. ft building began this fall, and completion is expected by July 2000. Senior Resource will also manage and operate the property.
Approximately 40% of the development will consist of common-space areas, such as dining areas, activity areas and health facilities. Hawthorn Court will also feature a built-in aviary and aquarium, and outdoor gardens.
