Washington, D.C.-based Marriott International Inc. and Orlando, Fla.-based CNL Hospitality Corp. are teaming to build the 950-room Desert Ridge Resort & Spa. The $300 million resort, to be located east of Tatum Boulevard in north Phoenix, will be the largest in the state, surpassing the 730-room Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix.
Scheduled to open in November 2002, amenities at the resort will include a 28,000 sq. ft. spa, two 18-hole golf courses and several restaurants. The hotel will feature a contemporary Southwestern design by San Francisco architect Mark Hornberger.
