WOODRIDGE, ILL.—The Great Lakes Volleyball Center has selected Morgan/Harbour Construction to build a 22,348-sq.-ft. expansion at the center in Aurora, Ill.
Plans for the construction include new courts to be built onto the existing 61,830-sq.-ft. facility located at 579 N. Oakhurst Drive, which was constructed by Morgan/Harbour in 2004. The planned expansion will include four new volleyball courts, viewing areas, offices and an additional 300 parking spaces.
Morgan/Harbour’s George Olmos is the project executive, and John Becker and Robert Papineau will lead the construction team as project manager and superintendent. Cornerstone Architects is providing the architectural services. The expansion to Great Lakes Volleyball is scheduled for completion in fall of 2012.
The Great Lakes Volleyball Center is home to the Sports Performance Volleyball Club, established in 1982. The construction of four additional courts will be used by the Great Lakes Youth Volleyball Academy and also allow the organization to expand its events capabilities. Last year an estimated 1,500 teams attended events at the facility. Great Lakes Volleyball provides a full-range of services to the volleyball community including training camps, youth development, leagues and equipment/apparel sales.
