MINNEAPOLIS—Metro Mold and Design (MMD) has opened its $5.2 million, 100,000-sq.-ft. medical manufacturing headquarters facility in Brooklyn Park.
“Our facility in Brooklyn Park has the capacity to employ 250 people and we fully intend to ramp up to full capacity over the next five years,” said Greg Heinemann, the company’s CFO.
The facility also serves a growing need for local medical manufacturing capacity.
Much of the $5.2 million dollar investment in this new facility is focused on expanding capacity for clean room manufacturing, as well as micro molding and high precision multi-axis Swiss machining capabilities. MMD is one of the few companies offering these sophisticated capabilities to the medical device market.
“As we’ve grown from $4.5M in revenue in 2000 to over $50M in revenue this year, we were nearly bursting at the seams in our old facility,” mentions Tim Holland, the company’s president and CEO. "Our investment in this new facility displays our commitment to growing along with our customers."
Much of MMD’s decision to open their facility in Brooklyn Park centered on the city’s willingness to work with MMD to secure a $500,000 low interest loan through the Minnesota Investment Fund as well as an additional $600,000 in local assistance made available through the Jobs Bill Legislation.
Founded in 1973, MMD is headquartered in Rogers.
