NEW JERSEY—Cushman & Wakefield’s Gualberto (Gil) Medina has been named chairperson for the 2013 March of Dimes Hudson and Essex/Union March for Babies events. In this role, Medina will work with community leaders to build relationships to support the organization’s efforts and spearhead two walks in the spring.
“The issue of prematurity in the United States is profound,” Medina said. “One in eight babies is born early in our country today, and the March of Dimes is working to change that. I am honored by the opportunity to support this organization and its compelling mission.”
Founded by Franklin Delano Roosevelt to find a cure for polio, the organization took on a new focus to eliminate birth defects and infant mortality after the cure for polio was discovered.
Medina is a long-time supporter of the March of Dimes. Professionally, Medina serves as executive managing director of Cushman & Wakefield, overseeing the commercial real estate services firm’s three New Jersey offices in East Rutherford, Edison and Morristown. An attorney and CPA, he is a well-known and respected business leader, and served as New Jersey’s Commerce Secretary under the Whitman Administration.
