NAIOP NJ: Public Policy Advocacy Crucial

PRINCETON—"Get involved and stay connected" was the message at NAIOP NJ's recent Developing Leaders event.

The forum was the organization’s Developing Leaders Evening with Legends series. NAIOP New Jersey’s Developing Leaders program provides resources and events for commercial real estate professionals under the age of 35, and the ongoing Evening with Legends series provides the opportunity for industry leaders to advise those new to the ranks. The topic of this particular event was advocacy on public policy; the speakers were NAIOP New Jersey’s CEO Michael McGuinness and government affairs consultant Anthony Pizzutillo.

As NAIOP New Jersey public policy activities have increased, McGuinness and Pizzutillo have each fostered relationships in Trenton, which has been significant in changing New Jersey’s regulatory climate. The state's reputation is more business-friendly than ever, and an asset in the competitive business attraction and job creation wars.

McGuinness and Pizzutillo provided updates for attendees on everything from affordable housing (COAH), to the Bayonne Bridge project which will accommodate larger vessels, to the business incentives that have made New Jersey more competitive as a business destination.
