NEWARK, NJ—Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (VLJ) has announced dates that it will hold free legal aid clinics in Monmouth and Ocean counties for residents impacted by legal issues related to Hurricane Sandy. The clinics are a part of the organization’s Disaster Legal Response Program (DLRP).
In Monmouth County, the clinics will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Brookdale Community College, located at One Crown Plaza in Hazlet. Dates for these sessions include:

- June 28
- July 12
- July 26
- August 9
- August 23
In Ocean County, the clinics will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Brick Presbyterian Church, located at 111 Drum Point Road in Brick, on:
- June 21
- July 19
- August 2
- August 16
- August 30
All victims of the storm with legal issues in New Jersey, regardless of income and assets, are eligible to meet with a volunteer attorney at the free legal clinic for advice and brief service.
Clinic participants needing extended representation are screened for financial eligibility, and VLJ will attempt to locate a volunteer attorney to take on full representation of the client’s legal issue.
At the clinics, VLJ attorneys will be prepared to provide counsel on such matters as insurance, housing, landlord/tenant issues, contractor disputes, employment issues and FEMA appeals.
