NEW YORK—Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) has renewed its 44,010-sq.-ft. lease at 257 Park Ave. South, the Gramercy Park Building. Colliers International’s Alan Desino, executive managing director, arranged the renewal working on behalf of the tenant, while the property owner, The Feil Organization, was represented in-house by Robert Fisher in the transaction.
EDF will continue to occupy the entire 16th, 17th and 18th floors at the property, as well as additional space on the property’s 12th floor, for a 10-year term.
“EDF is dedicated to providing a first-class, environmentally friendly center of operations for its employees and its partners,” said Desino, who also said that EDF has been working closely with the building’s owner to ensure the transition to a natural gas heating system as part of the NYC Clean Heat program.
Built in 1912, 257 Park Ave. South is a 20-story, 226,000-sq.-ft. Art Deco property with a restored sculpted ceiling and new elevator cabs. The building is located in close proximity to Baruch College, Gramercy Park Hotel, the Metropolitan Life Insurance Tower and the Flatiron Building, as well as Gramercy Park, Union Square Park and Madison Square Park.
In addition to EDF, tenants include Spa-Finder, the Better Business Bureau, Cosi Sandwich Bar and Bravo Pizza, among others.
