NEW YORK CITY—Jamestown Properties has closed on its acquisition of 325 Hudson Street, an office building located in the Hudson Square area of Manhattan.
The building is the home of many telecommunications and media tenants, with Pearson PLC signing a 7,400-sq.-ft. lease in March 2012 to become the building’s newest tenant. Other tenants in the building include several media, industrial design and telecom companies.
The 10-story, 241,000-sq.-ft. former industrial building was redeveloped in 1998 as a telecommunications center. The specialty building has features that particularly appeal to telecom businesses, including floors that are able to support 200 to 250 pounds per square foot and 12-foot ceilings. Because of this emphasis on telecom, Jamestown has partnered with Amerimar Enterprises and Hunter Newby who will focus on the these aspects of the building.
Many companies base their headquarters in Hudson Square, including Edelman, Euro RSCG, MTV Networks, New York Magazine, Omnicom, Rafael Vinoly Architects, Saatchi & Saatchi, Weiden+Kennedy and WNYC Radio.
