NEW YORK—The Patina Restaurant Group has completed a partnership agreement with W&H Properties to open a 10,000-sq.-ft. restaurant with private rooms and a ground-floor banquet catering facility of the Empire State Building. The restaurant plans to open in 2014.
The new restaurant, which has not yet been named, will feature American-grill-style cuisine. It will be operated and managed by Patina Restaurant Group and owned by ESB. Other restaurants in the Patina Restaurant Group portfolio include Lincoln Restaurant and The Grand Tier at the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center and The Rink at Rockefeller Center, among others across the U.S.
Matt Chmielecki and Andrew Goldberg of CBRE represented the landlord in the partnership negotiations. Malkin Holdings LLC supervises the Empire State Building on behalf of the ownership, W&H Properties.
“We look forward to being a part of the repositioning of the Empire State Building as a world-class destination for tenants, their clients and the entire community around the ESB, which is experiencing much growth and revitalization,” said CEO Nick Valenti, Patina Restaurant Group.
The Empire State Building has undergone more than $550 million in energy-efficiency upgrades, including infrastructure upgrades, lobby and public area upgrades. The property has earned Energy Star designation and also earned LEED-EB Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
