Outback Steakhouse franchisees Forrest and Kimberly Smith are bringing the popular Orlando-based restaurant chain to Manhattan. The Smiths recently opened an Outback on Third Avenue at 56th Street, and recently signed a 30-year lease for an 8,000-sq.-ft. eatery at 700 Avenue of Americas at 23rd Street. The new Outback will be located on the ground floor of Pan Am Equities’ new residential building, The Caroline.
Insignia/ESG’s retail group brokered the transaction, with David LaPierre acting on behalf of the landlord and Eric Gelber representing Outback. According to Gelber, The Smiths plan to open two additional locations on the upper east and upper west sides of Manhattan.
