Save-A-Lot to build 325,000 sq. ft. industrial facility

PLANT CITY, Fla. – St. Louis-based Save-A-Lot Ltd. has chosen Clayco Construction Co. to build a one-level 325,035 sq. ft. distribution center here. The $15.8 million facility will consist of a 103,000 sq. ft. refrigerated zone with 32-foot ceilings, a 210,000 sq. ft. dry goods area with 28-foot ceilings and 11,800 sq. ft. of office space. The refrigerated area will have 23 cold dock doors, and the dry goods area will have 36 dock doors.

The building has been designed by Design Services of Eden Prairie, Minn. St. Louis-based Alper-Audi Inc. is structural engineer, and Stock & Associates, also of St. Louis, is providing civil engineering services. Parking for 200 cars and 50 trailers will be available. Construction began in May, and completion is slated for December. Save-A-Lot is a limited assortment grocery chain with more than 900 stores nationwide.
