Crayola signed a lease with Majestic Realty Co. for an 800,000-sq.-ft. centralized distribution center at Majestic Bethlehem Center in Bethlehem, Pa. The lease will commence in the spring of 2013 and will be effective through 2023.
Majestic will build the state-of-the-art facility to Crayola’s specifications, with the groundbreaking scheduled for later this spring. The company plans to use the building for material handling, product pallet assembly, systems support, logistics and distribution for worldwide shipment. It will house between 60 and 80 employees at the facility.
Crayola currently operates warehouses in Harrisburg and Lehigh Valley, Pa., but leases for those facilities will expire early next year.
“We are very excited at the prospect of this new distribution center and warehouse in the Lehigh Valley,” said Crayola President and CEO Mike Perry in a statement. “It will allow us to optimize our logistics and warehouse operations under one roof, expand operations near our domestic manufacturing and office operations and improve our product flow. It will provide us with greater efficiencies, cost savings and improve customer service.”
