Boise, Idaho – Locally based Albertson’s plans to expand its energy conservation program to all of its 2,500-plus grocery and drug stores. The retailer intends to cut its annual energy consumption by 10%.
Among the specific strategies are reductions of sales-area lighting by 25% to 50% and adjusting thermostats to 75 degrees in summer and 68 degrees in winter. The chain will turn off outdoor, wall and accent lighting during the day and limit equipment use whenever possible.
