Denver, Colo.-based Johns Manville Roofing Systems is stepping up its NDL contractor program, which emphasizes recognition and communication with contractors. The company is adding ongoing inspections to ensure that only the best contractors achieve the JM-approved roofing contractor designation. The goal is to assure long-term system performance of JM products. Future plans for JM-contractor designees include marrying the program with the company's preferred accounts effort.

In other JM news, B.J. Lemonier has been promoted to group plant manager. Lemonier will be responsible for overseeing the production and shipping operations of four of the company's plants. He will be based in Denver. Previously, Lemonier served as manager for the company's plants in Waukegan, Ill., and Natchez, Miss., as well as manager of organizational development and production superintendent. He has been with the company since 1973.

New Leadership Selected for SEGD The Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD), an international nonprofit design society, has selected Wayne Hunt as the organization's president for the next year. Hunt, president of Pasadena, Calif.-based Hunt Design Associates, will lead SEGD through a process to consider changing the organization's name and its new focus on education-based programming. His firm specializes in environmental graphic design, brand identity and exhibit design. Current projects include graphics and wayfinding for the MGM Grand and Paris casinos in Las Vegas; identity graphics for La Isla shopping center in Cancun, Mexico; and signage masterplanning for the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority.

Also, Patrick Gallagher, principal-in-charge of Washington-based Douglas/Gallagher, will serve as the society's vice president for the next year. His firm has extensive experience in museum planning, exhibition design, environmental graphics and wayfinding. Current projects include exterior signage and wayfinding for the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and the development of industrial attractions for Boeing, ESPN and General Motors.

Stanley Produces CD-ROM Catalog for Automatic Doors New Britain, Conn.-based Stanley Access Technologies has produced the "Architectural Specifier" CD-Rom catalog to assist architects, specifiers and contractors in selecting automatic doors. The CD contains a photo gallery of Stanley doors, CSI-format product specifications and a complete set of drawings, available in elevation, plan, and vertical and horizontal section views. Tile Manufacturer Hires Outside Design Team Jersey City, N.J.-based Imagine Tile, a ceramic tile manufacturer, has engaged New York-based Vignelli Associates to develop new designs for its product line. Imagine, which holds a U.S. patent for glazed ceramic floor tiles having high-resolution images, already produces a nature line with water, stones, leaves, etc., as well as a "Street Smarts" line with asphalt, manhole covers and crosswalks. Brian McAuley, chairman of Imagine, says of the relationship, "Together, we will change the ways the architect and design community think about ceramic tile in building design."

Nuckolls Fund Benefit Walk In conjunction with Lightfair '99, Ocean, N.J.-based Belfer Lighting is sponsoring San Francisco Bay Walk on May 12, 7 a.m., in memory of Craig A. Roeder. The walk benefits The Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education, an endowment fund that supports college-level programs that inspire students with an understanding of light in architecture. Jim Nuckolls was one of the first architectural lighting designers practicing in the United States, while Roeder, who died in June 1998 at age 48, founded the Dallas-based lighting design firm of Craig A. Roeder Associates Inc. Roeder won many top lighting awards and took pleasure in seeing the work of his mentor, Nuckolls, continue. Call (732) 493-2666 for more information.

Training Tapes Available for Mall Security Staff J.R. Roberts, president of Savannah, Ga.-based Applied Criminology, has developed "Applied Criminology Mall Security Training." The audio cassette training program was created as a guide and orientation to the issues of safety and security in the shopping center environment. Roberts, who has 20 years of security experience, has conducted more than 20 comprehensive security audits of superregional malls. Family Tile Business Adds Division, Prepares for Growth Ironrock Capital Inc., a Canton, Ohio-based tile manufacturer formerly known as Metropolitan Industries, has a new name, a new logo and a new organization within the company. Ironrock manufactures ceramic floor tile, quarry tile, and high-end commercial and residential hand-made, decorative ceramic tile. The company is split into three divisions: Metropolitan ceramics, which specializes in unglazed quarry tile; The Meredith Collection, which manufactures hand-molded, hand-glazed, decorative wall and floor tile; and Architectural Shapes & Colors (AS&C), a new division that designs and manufactures tiles on a custom basis to the specifications of architects, engineers and construction professionals.

Web Updates * Newport, Calif.-based Integration Technologies Inc. has launched an internet-based service to deliver customizable site maps and demographic reports for any site in the United States. The subscription site, www.anysite.com, offers users presentation-quality maps and reports. Databases available on the site include updated demographics, BusinessCounts (daytime population and employment), consumer expenditures, CrimeRisk, MOSAIC Lifestyles Segmentation and weather/quake risk.

* Mt. Vernon, Ind.-based Flex-Lite Corp., a fabricator and distributor of LEXAN Thermoclear Multiwall and other sheet items for General Electric Co., has created a website to provide performance and installation specification data. The website, flex-lex.com, also offers detailed descriptions on sheet products, as well as a page of contacts within the company.

* San Diego, Calif.-based National Decision Systems has added online-mapping capabilities to its website, www.sitereports.com, which also includes 11 reports. The site guides users through the map-generation process, which can produce maps of current-year population, current-year number of households, median household income, population growth for 1990 to the present, and daytime population. Users can purchase maps with a credit card or on account.

* Clearwater, Fla.-based MSC Specialty Films Inc. has developed a website detailing its window film products. Visitors will find information on automotive, residential, commercial, safety/security and designer window film products at www.solargard.com. The site also connects users to company information, service centers, international distributors and window film dealers. MSC's products are sold under the names Solargard, Armorgard, Quantum, Panorama and Armorcoat.
