Last month, Ross Stores launched a statewide rollout of its new DD's Discounts prototype with two 25,000 square-foot stores in San Leandro and Vallejo. Targeted at lower-income customers than the retailer's Ross Dress For Less Stores, DD's offers clothing and accessories in the $5 to $30 price range. Ross plans to open 10 stores in California by year's end. As of now, it has no plans for a national rollout. Ross intends to locate DD's stores in strip centers in densely populated areas with co-tenants such as dollar stores and value-focused grocers.
