"Dramatic architectural point of view."

The people's plaza In the shadow of the awe-inspiring Andes mountains, Plaza Tobalaba provides a dramatic community gathering spot for shopping, entertainment and social interaction. In the category of New Enclosed Centers, Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Associates, Atlanta, received an honorable mention for its design work on the development.

Positioned to take advantage of the breathtaking mountain views, the building plan was given a gentle crescent configuration to create and embrace a 100-foot deep, open-air plaza that serves as both community park and arrival court for the mall.

Restaurants, a game arcade, and the cinema box office open out to activate the plaza at street level. The food court sits on top of this area, and together with the entertainment tenants creates an interior courtyard, extending the plaza activity into the building. The series of plazas continues through center court to the rear of the mall.
