Bowie, Md. - Construction has begun on Bowie Town Center, a 560,000 sq. ft. shopping village developed by Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group and designed by Baltimore-based RTKL. Located between Washington D.C. and Annapolis, Md., the pedestrian-oriented center serves a trade-area population of 272,855 with anchors Hecht's and Sears, seven specialty/lifestyle majors, 170,000 sq. ft. of specialty shops, freestanding restaurants and a food pavilion. Opening is planned for fall 2001.
Fort Wayne, Indiana - Jefferson Pointe, a 650,000 sq. ft. shopping center, recently broke ground under the supervision of Kansas City, Mo.-based R.E.D. Capital Development and L&B Realty Advisors. This open-air, regional lifestyle center spans 75 acres. The $75 million project is 65% pre-leased and features over 60 retail shops and restaurants. It is anchored by a 140,000 sq. ft. Von Maur department store.
