ORANGE, CA—The city Planning Commission has given approval for the construction of the 334-unit AMLI Uptown Orange apartment complex here.
The 5.6-acre urban infill project will be built on the site of an existing DoubleTree Hotel parking lot and will include the construction of two new parking structures, one for the DoubleTree and one for the apartment community's residents and guests. The project will be built in phases to ensure that parking for the hotel is always available. First, will be the 494-space parking structure for the existing DoubleTree Hotel, followed by the building of the apartments with their own 608-space parking garage.
AMLI is breaking ground on the property later this year. The four-story apartment community will contain leasing offices, a fitness center, a club room lounge, a business center, a pool and outdoor lounge areas. KTGY is the project's designer and architect. Bryan Sevy, senior project designer with KTGY, says the property is named after a former name for the city.
"One of the unique aspects about this project is that the two parking garages feature a four-story tall screen of colored metal fins with integrated graphics that covers the entire length and height of the structure, and is an exciting architectural element for the project and the surrounding neighborhood," he says.
