SAN JANCITO, CA—Lansing Cos. has acquired the Villages of San Jacinto, a master-planned community that is to consist of 1,300 home units on 475 acres and plans for parks, schools and mixed-use commercial development.
D.R. Horton sold the property, which is west of Sanderson Avenue, bordered by Ramona Boulevard on the north and a wastewater treatment plant north of Cottonwood Avenue on the south. The project had included man-made lakes, a new high school and retail properties.
The city had approved the project in February 2010. However, by July 2012, D.R. Horton was trying to sell the property to the local Eastern Municipal Water District, which ran the treatment plant, for $6.5 million. The district turned down the purchase.
Lansing’s portfolio has included more than 20,000 residential lots and 30,000 acres in various stages of development. Current projects include the 2,000 unit master planned community of Skyborne located in the Coachella Valley, as well as a venture with Pulte Homes on their successful 2,600 unit Rancho Diamante DelWebb project, located in the city of Hemet, Calif.
