The Georgian Terrace in Atlanta is undergoing an $8.5 million renovation that its Denver-based owner hopes will help the hotel compete against such upscale neighbors as the Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton Atlanta. Amstar Group Ltd., which purchased the hotel in November 1999, is renovating the hotel in several phases. Phase one, which will be completed in late October, includes a 7,500 sq. ft. conference center, the Savoy Grill restaurant, a restored terrace for alfresco dining and a refurbished mezzanine bar.
Phase two includes renovations to the lobby, retail space and boardroom, and phase three will restore the grand ballroom. The 320-suite Georgian Terrace, which features Parisian-style architecture, originally opened in 1911.
