In an opinion piece I wrote and appeared in the Lodging Hospitality Front Desk Blog on Mar. 15, I misrepresented some facts regarding negotiations between Choice Hotels and the Asian American Hotel Owners Association. We later published a letter from the AAHOA leadership recounting its problems with my blog.
I alleged that Choice Hotels had to “write a hefty check” to successfully strike a deal to return as an AAHOA founding member. In a letter to Lodging Hospitality, AAHOA Voce President Laura Lee Blake set the record straight: “The fact is AAHOA never discussed money with Choice Hotels at any point during the negotiations, and to suggest otherwise could be construed as libelous and defamatory.”
I apologize to AAHOA and its membership for any problems my remarks caused.
